A Night…

Friday nights have become something of a bittersweet time for me. It is a night when I can do whatever I please, but I generally do so alone. I despise being home alone. However this one night a week gives my Nerd and I some time apart to do things we enjoy. The end result is generally a pleasant one.

My Nerd ventures into the Nerd kingdom to the comic/card store on Friday nights to play Magic the Gathering with all of his Nerd kingdom buddies. It gives him the opportunity to spend time away from home and doing something he enjoys, without our little mini-nerds asking for something every 5 minutes. Honestly I really enjoy going with him when I can. I don’t play. That is something I do with him alone to avoid as much mockery as possible, but I truly enjoy going out there. It is nice to be around my Nerd while he is in his element. I also like to watch the games unfold and a lot of the guys over there are fun and very witty. Good times are had.

MY Friday nights, unless I am with him, are much quieter. To be honest by the time Friday evening rolls around, after spending the week with rambunctious, chaotic little mini-nerds I usually just want quiet and mind numbing activities. For instance tonight’s plan:
• Feed the minis. ✅
• Put the minis to bed. ✅
• Occupy myself while the minis eventually fall asleep.
• Take a LUSH bath.
• Turn on the TV, find something to watch that is acceptable background noise. (I hate being home alone)
• Play The Sims 3 until my Nerd comes home.

Currently I am at the end phase of #3 on that list. I cannot WAIT for them to pass out so I can fix myself a yummy drink and run my LUSH bath and read a book for a couple hours.

Now if you are unfamiliar with LUSH. let me tell you what… This stuff is the BOMB DIGGITY. (Yeah, I really did just say that!!). It is a company which hand makes and sells all kinds of cosmetics. NO animal testing involved. You can find more information at their website HERE</a

Ladies – though it’s a little pricey, really it’s worth the money.
Men- whether you are dating someone currently or married or even if you store this bit of info in your brain for decades down the road when YOU FINALLY find the one? Buy her LUSH. It’s the greatest thing aside from diamonds that a man can invest in. Every woman likes to be pampered in some way. Well, that’s my opinion anyway. 😄

So after my bath I’m going to play with my Sims. They had download purchases on sale the other day so my Nerd bought me the Supernatural and Generations expansions for a total of $17. It totally made my rotten day better. Just like when he brought me LUSH home yesterday!!
I made myself a werewolf family and they now have 4 little werewolves of their own running around and another on the way!! I am trying to decide which supernatural species to create next! Next thing I know I am going to have my town overrun with supernatural creatures in no time at all!

I know, I’m 31 I should get a real life rather than live vicariously though my little Sim People. At least that’s what my old man tells me. But how am I supposed to do that? At this moment I have zero werewolves in my life. Uhg. Oh well, some people really just don’t get it! And really? That’s ok.

Now I do believe it has been a while Since I last heard Transformers clicking their parts in place as they are making their grand transformations from cars to awesome robots and back again! So I am going to make myself a drink, run a bath and grab a book. Y’all have a fabulous night!

A Week To Ourselves…

Our oldest Mini-Nerd went to camp last week.  It ended up being road trip like in that we drove 2 hours to the campus and then 2 hours home. At least the camp lasted an entire week so we didn’t have to make the drive again until the next weekend. Our youngest 2 mini-nerds stayed with my mom for most of the week.  This gave my Nerd and I amazing amounts of freedom and the ability to go out on multiple dates last week! Most of you fellow parents out there can surely empathize in this.  It can be difficult to find a sitter, this tends to result in us not going out for MONTHS.

Many couples suffer from a lack of regular date nights.  It is a very sad misfortune that befalls many parents. It is a condition that can encourage a build up of frustration between the two involved individuals, causing arguing and even a  separation in the relationship between the two fated parties. The longer a couple suffers from not being able to afford to pay someone to watch their children while they go out on a date, the more dire the consequences and the more difficult it becomes to mend the rift in the relationship.  Perhaps someone should establish a foundation for “Parent’s Who Can’t Afford To Pay Someone To Watch Their Children While They Go On A Date Night”. We could call it “The P.W.C.A.T.P.S.T.W.T.C.W.T.G.O.A.D.N. Foundation”.  Their mission would be to provide parents who can’t afford to go on regular dates with the funds necessary to hire a sitter and enjoy dinner and a movie. It would be a marvelous concept, though I believe we should rename it. Honestly, “The P.W.C.A.T.P.S.T.W.T.C.W.T.G.O.A.D.N. Foundation” may be too long and too difficult for people to remember.

How could the upper crust of society possibly write obscenely  large checks for our cause if they can’t possibly remember the name of the foundation they are generously donating to.  I can see it now: Beautiful classical music played by a string quartet. The women who are wearing the finest, most expensive gowns, their fingers, wrists and necks encrusted in the most expensive diamonds. Arm in arm with the wealthy men who are immaculately dressed in tuxedos and wearing their top hats with wads of cash garnishing their top hats with a ritzy flair, leaning on their custom designed gold tipped canes to complete their ensemble.  They discuss, in their fancy British accents (because all wealthy people speak with a British accent in my mind) ways to better invest their riches so that they may gain more wealth and recognition for their good deeds done and how much they should donate to the “P.W.C.A.T….. what was it called again old chap? foundation”.

I digress, last Tuesday night was our fist date in months. We were absolutely giddy in our freedom.  My nerd and I had no curfew and an empty, pleasantly quite home to return to. Courtesy of my mother of course! We went to one of our favorite restaurants, which disappointingly, their service was lacking. A first for us there. We have always been lucky to enjoy superb service while we dined there before. This visit however, our waitress seemed overwhelmed and the restaurant  wasn’t even very busy this night. Our food arrived at our table nearly an hour after we had ordered and was not nearly hot enough to have just been taken out of the oven as the waitress had told us.  Regardless, rushing through our food we asked for the check so that we could make it to our movie on time.

Arriving at the mall we all but skipped our way to the theater. Really, giddiness and excitement can intoxicate you causing you to drop all your pride and influence you to do things you would not normally do.  Seriously? Me? Skip around in public? Yeah… no. My nerd however takes great pride and even pleasure in trying to find ways to humiliate me.  After 12 years of marriage it is a lot more of a challenging feat to accomplish than it once was. However, he came close this night when he proceeded to fling his shoe partway across the theater’s lobby to prove a point to the attendant who was taking our tickets. I managed to laugh it off without making myself into a flustered spectacle.

Ten minutes later we settled ourselves into our customary seats with our drinks and popcorn and began to banter back and forth thoroughly enjoying each others company while we waited for the film to begin. Now, I understand that “Man of Steel” is undergoing some pretty heavy love/hate within the Nerd Kingdom. But, I am really simpleminded when it comes to movies I watch.  So much so that it tends to drive my Nerd absolutely insane. So please don’t hold it against me that I absolutely loved this movie. Perhaps if it makes you feel better, you can remember that I was intoxicated by giddiness and excitement?
Even though it wasn’t very original regarding the storyline (Even I could see that) and there really wasn’t enough character development for my preferences. I very much enjoyed sitting back, hand in hand with the love of my life watching a movie about Superman. Who is my Nerd’s favorite superhero.

We had a great week over all our next date was significantly less eventful.  Our movie choice of Friday night was “Star Trek: Into Darkness” which I enjoyed so much I wanted to go home afterward and look up and watch really old Star Trek episodes. Not something I have ever had a great desire to do before, I assure you. My Nerd and I decided to pick up cheeseburgers on the way home and settled in to watch some Battlestar Galactica until we were both having a difficult time keeping our eyes open at some point in the wee hours of the morning.

As much as I missed our Mini-Nerds last week I really did enjoy the home alone and home alone with My Nerd time. I didn’t have to cook all week, or clean. It was fabulous!
